Singing4God Ministries started when Sonja was asked to play and sing at several different church events, not only in Safford, but also in neighboring communities.  She felt that her ministry should be a ministry of the church, and First Southern Baptist Church of Safford then endorsed Singing4God.

Sonja Watkins - Country got its start by playing classic country music at the local nursing homes.  As others who were visiting their loved ones at the homes heard the music, word got out about this group.  Soon they were playing for other events.

Singing4God Ministries

Sonja Watkins - Country (SW-C) has had the opportunity to play at several events locally.

During the time of warm temperatures, they play a couple of Saturday's each month at the Safford Ride-N-Dine during their weekly car shows.  Last fall, SW-C played a fund-raising event for the local hospital auxiliary, which was able to raise over $10,000 to help purchase equipment for the hospital!  They also played the New Year's Eve dance and the Valentine's dance for the local VFW post.

In 2016, Sonja had the amazing opportunity to attend the Gloria Gaither Songwriting Intensive in Alexandria, Indiana.  She was able to spend 4 days in training with the likes of Jimmy Yeary (co-writer of "I Drive Your Truck"), Cindy Morgan, the Getty's, and of course, Bill and Gloria Gaither.  It was a wonderful learning experience!
